In this sense, family history is much more than just researching names, dates, and places.

Families are central to Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness. He has prepared a way for family relationships to continue throughout eternity. We search for the names of our ancestors to stand in their behalf to receive sacred ordinances necessary to salvation, who have died without the opportunity to receive them. These include baptism, confirmation, and every other ordinance necessary for salvation. These ordinances are performed in sacred places called temples. The temple in Chicago IL is pictured below.
